As I go about this life,
I carry an audience in my head.
Always the low murmur of the muted conversations echoing
Sometimes these conversations accelerate in crescendo
Words becoming distinguishable.
Laughter provides a staccato beat
Punctuating the steady stream of internal audio
Some streams branch off
And reverberate through my conscious mind
separating themselves into recognizable melodies
External cues present themselves ...
A piece of a lyric
A rhythm to the world around me
Pulling the stream that mirrors it from the collective
Threading it into my consciousness,
Intergrating it into the thought process of my mind.
I find myself laughing at the absurdity
Of this musical intrusion,
Beginning to join the song as it plays
First mentally, then audibly.
And on occasion I dance to the melody
As the audience's murmurings
Encourage my expressions
And cheer me on.
